So you're planning for the big day! You already know everyone will be looking at YOU the whole time and you want to find the PERFECT dress! Don't make the mistake of letting your dress look better than you do!
I know, I know, you want to look "natural" and your mind is made up. You don't want to feel like a clown or look over done. But did you know that less is not always more when it comes to your wedding day? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying to go cake the stuff on, I'm simply saying don't be afraid to step outside the box this once.
Try this: Do your makeup how you think looks best, then go take a picture of yourself wearing all white. Upload it to your picnik account, add a little color and see at how much healthier you look! This is not because you look washed out in person. It is simply because your makeup does not show up as well on camera and you look washed out. These pictures aren't for facebook, they're your memories for a lifetime!
Knowing this, why would a bride opt to wear the same amount of makeup on her wedding day as she does on a Monday morning to the office? Do you wake up and decide "Today at work, I will look the BEST I ever have!" Of course not! lol. We roll out of bed, into the shower, do what we must and go about our day. So is this look really good enough for you WEDDING DAY????
It absolutely isn't!
So make sure you schedule appointments with a few artists and do it earlier in the day. See how long each makeup type lasts on your skin and how you look in different lighting throughout your day. Your skin also may not react well to a new product so you'll want to find that out as well. You'll soon be able to find your perfect match! And don't go for trendy, think "timeless"!
Next, schedule a few test runs with the makeup artist you picked to perfect your look. Bring your camera and take plenty of pictures from all angles. Make sure you wear something that is close to the color of your dress so you get it right!
If you still insist on making this a DIY project, don't over do it with glitter, self tanner or trying to look like someone you've seen on tv. The girls on tv look good because they have had a professional do what looks best on THEM....on camera. So find what looks best on you!
Do not EVER apply self tanner to any part of your body the week of your wedding. Let a professional handle it.
There are things you can cut corners on and save money on your wedding, your makeup is not one of them!
